Mark Fell, living in England.
Besides being part of snd (two great albums on Mille Plateaux + a couple of legendary EPs) Mark also recorded the Hobby material as .h ... no explanation on the name though!!

Acustic
Jesper Skaaning live and work in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Besides his split's for Hobby, he has released 1 12" and 2 albums through April Records + 3 albums as part of Future 3 (who has also released an album as System through Scape Music).
Though Jesper has not produced for a ton of releases or compilations, he is by far the most productive when talking about the ever-changing compilation webcompilation run by him and the rest of system and Future 3.

Bichi
Bichi is Danish producer Tobias Wilner. Toby lives in Copenhagen, where he's also known as a key and founding member of Electronica Pop Project, Blue Foundation.
Having spend his school years at the alternative and creative Bernadotte school, playing instruments was a natural way of expressing yourself.
First time Hobby experienced his sounds, they were close to electronic indie-Pop. At that time the band, Polytone was his foundation. Polytone soon turned into Blue Foundation.
As a band, Blue Foundation is demoractic in writing, playing and producing. In contrast to the demoratic band, Toby has full control of production and final output of Bichi. As a result, the sound is more minimal and twisted, not concentrating on too much vocal and acoustic instruments, but still keeps an eye and an ear open for the effect these elements can have.

Christoffer Brus
Real name : Christoffer Berg. He's in his early 20's and live in Gothenburg, Sweden, where he is part of a busy clique of producers mixing music skills with studio technic. Most of the sounds find their way to labels concentrating in a acoustic sounding nu-jazz and broken style ... their nickname is "Gunkyburg All stars".
As Hird, Christoffer fits this sound, but luckily for Hobby, he also concentrates on producing more slow and melodic stuff as Christoffer Brus. His sound is not too far from well disiplined children playing electronica with toy instruments recorded in an old analogue studio - that said, Christoffer is not that young .. we know as we have had the pleasure meeting this calm and talented person.

Dub Tractor
Anders Remmer live and work in Copenhagen, Denmark.
He is part of Future 3 and System, and has a background in what was one of the best danish bands ever in our opinion. With How do I he was busy writing many a fine song + being the fantastic drummer and beat programmer. All of their 4 albums are worth looking for.
The first Dub Tractor album was released while still in How do I, but slowly his interest for electronic music took over, and since mid 90's we did not hear much new stuff from the band. Besides Dub Tractor, solvpil and Jet has been used as solo aliases conentrating on more danceable productions and releases. He has also produced collaborations as Jesper&Anders and Recycler 202 for the Boredom is deep ...ambient compilations released by April Records.
Dub Tractor has so far released 4 albums + various ep's for Flex and City centre Offices + his work for Hobby.

Goodiepal
Kristian Vester, has a base and sometimes lives in Copenhagen.
Specialised in computers and audio, Kristian has worked for clients such as Nokia, Warner and Columbia Pictures.
Parallel to his Hobby splits, Kristian has released music on labels such as Lucky Kitchen, District Six, City-Centre-Offices, Skipp, Unbearable Recordings and not the least V/VM where he from 1998 to 2000 released the 7"-collection "Demonbag".
Goodiepal is busy working on a new language which will not be presented until 2003, until then Mainpal is awake, alive and very active with releases and playing live.

Manual
Jonas Munk, studies and lives in Odense, Denmark.
Just out of his teens, you could easily think he is new in writing and playing music, but more than 8 years ago he was already involved in music - hard-rock that is! Since then Jonas and his friends have moved towards something more drifting. Most people would choose the term post-rock about their sound when they all get together as the band Limp ( signed to Morr Music with the first EP "Orion".
When Jonas produce as Manual he keeps elements from that symphonic and big reverb sound, but uses more clicks and tricky beats to accompany the almost romantic melodies. A bit less minimal than most of the other Hobby releases, but still with fresh ideas to surprise you.
Besides his debut ep through and for Hobby, Manual has released the "Until Tomorrow" and "Ascend" albums through Morr Music, a 7" on Static Caravan.
A collaboration album with US project Icebreaker International will released summer 2003 through Morr Music... the same label for which he produced one of the best covers from the Slowdive tribute compilation.

Opiate
Thomas Knak live and work in Copenhagen, Denmark
Produce and remix as Opiate on labels such as Sprawl Imprint, April Records, Sony, One little Indian,Vertical Form, City-Centre Offices, Raster-Noton, Earth Tones and Morr Music. Thomas is also part of Future 3 (3 albums and 2 EPs for April Records) and System ( 1 album Scape)....
Collectivly the members also run the ever-changing MP3 compilation on www.systemf3.com.
Opiate has collaborated with Alva Noto on the OPTO files albums ( autumn 2001 and late summer 2003) and with Bjork on Cocoon and Undo (both taken from her Vespertine album , 2001). Records solo as Opiate, Gloria Hirsch and Thomas Knak.
Thomas has also produced commercial music for various tv and radio programmes + for companies such as Nike, Innovation and Dornbracht. Has also been invited to write and produce for various plays and dance pieces. Wrote and produced the music for the Danish feature film "Reconstruction" which won two prizes at Cannes Film Festival 2003.

Opto
Between Jan-April 2003 Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto) and Thomas Knak ( Opiate) produced their 2nd Opto collaboration. The work was commisioned from Japan, and the music was to collide with a clothing line based on an ”in the woods” theme.
As a direct request, the music had to work with a more organic, light and melodic feeling, compared to their first opto release (Opto files, Raster Noton, in 2001).
At the same time as the commision was accepted, Carsten found an old battered cassette in a forest, north east of Berlin. The tape contained almost inaudiable lo-fi recordings of someone playing small guitar pieces. The forest ambience and the old guitar recordings was to be the template for ”2nd”.

When collaborating on their first Opto album, the way of working , was to send soundfiles back and forth Berlin and Copenhagen. This also became the idea for ”2nd” . Carsten got help from assistants to restore the recordings of the found magnetic audiotape, and passed the guitar files to Thomas, who then started working on beat structures, then adding recordings of a nearby forest. The recodings was made at different hours during two days, hence the tracktitles. This way it’s possible to listen to the album as one long track which guides you through 48 hours in about 40 min, or choose to pick the melodic and daylight bits from the more moody and static night productions.

2nd might not sound as either Alva Noto or Opiate solo, but definately as Opto, as the blend of dsp and glitch meets the old way of sampling concrete sounds. Following the first Opto release, ”2nd” still focus on minimal manipulation and a ban of trickery plug-in show off, while moving towards more balanced and structured layers.

Orchard
Lars Bo Jandrup, live and work in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Besides being a very slow, but careful producer, he's making fantastic melodic yet complex and tricky music. Lars also work with graphics, designing for artists such as Mew and Symptoms ( Swim artist) + designing the stickers and labels for Hobby. Lars has released two eps for Hobby, with a long promised album expected in 2003.

r j valeo
The Radical Joker live and work in and out of New York, US.
Besides his 3 clicky tracks for the HI012 split, he has not released many productions other than on his own imprint. Summer 2003 sees him finally visiting Europe, where he will be on tour with Xela in UK.

Spinform
Erik Møller live and work in Uppsala just outside Stockholm. From there he has been responsible for releases using the Spinform and Unai aliases. Unai is the name used when he's in a dubby and reduced house mode, releasing through German label Sub Static.
Unai is behind the sounds on 2 ep's and an album.
First time Hobby had the pleasure listening to his Spinform sounds, was when his "Urban Legends EP" was released through the Swedish R.U.C label in 1998. This was the time of Photek and abstract of drum'n bass. People like Icarus, Meyer and Spinform was closely behind the idea of these patterns and sounds, and especially Erik's sounds on his debut for R.U.C. promised more to come. As quikly as Photek and the likes had appeard, just as quickly they dissapeared for a while. For a few years Erik went lowkey, until he was suddenly found on the swedish compilation, "Smakful Elektronik" in 2001. Ever since, Hobby has been in contact to arrange for a release, and for us the 6 track ep was worth the wait... Hope you feel the same, when listening to his now midtempo programming of crisp beats and nice acustic instruments manipulated into Spinform.

Wass
Lars Wass live and work in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Lars made his debut with his melodic Split-release on Hobby in 1999. Since then Lars has concentrated on shaping his style, which at the moment can be everything!!!
Late 2001 Discowax released his filter housy coverversion of"Summertime" feat. Earl Thomas on vocals.
A bonus info : Lars was helping new talents on their way in the 2003 version of danish Popstars!!
